English Satellite Television

When we first moved to France, I wanted us all to be totally immersed in French as much as possible, including television. I wanted no English television at all.

After the first year, I noticed that my children's vocabulary was growing faster for French that for English. We read English books daily in our home, both silently and frequently aloud, but the kids still hear a lot more French everyday than English.

Some families ban (rare) or very severely limit television viewing. I limit it, but consider it part of popular culture. If you limit it and make wise choices, t.v. can be enriching in my opinion.

I decided to make our home and family time strictly English, including television. We are from the U.S., not the U.K., so I almost gave up on getting U.K. satellite until I finally found a company based in Spain that can supply everything you need to receive UK Sky satellite and BBC programming - WITHOUT having to have a U.K. address. I only found this one company, and I REALLY looked. I checked multiple references, and no one had anything other than good things to say about this company.

I have been very pleased with their service in the year and a half that we have had a contract with them.

You are required to purchase your decoder box through them. I chose the one with the built-in hard disk to record, and have loved not having to buy tapes and program vcrs.

We enjoy BBC, Fox News, Nickelodeon, Disney, Nick Jr., CBeebies, and lots of movie channels. Many of the PBS programs are shown on BBC.

I have even bought Sky decoders for all of our vacation rental cottages and bed and breakfast rooms through Bob and have continued to be pleased with the service I have received.
